Dr. Bruce Garrett is President and CEO of Global Research Services. Dr. Garrett has a long-standing interest in cardiovascular drug safety and the streamlining of the safety reporting process to regulatory agencies.
Dr. Garrett is a graduate of The Medical College of Pennsylvania and is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He received his clinical training at the Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI where he was an intern, resident and nephrology fellow. This was followed by a research fellowship in hypertension at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center Dallas under the leadership of Norman Kaplan, MD.
In 1980, Dr. Garrett joined the faculty of George Washington University Medical Center in the Division of Nephrology where he became Director of Hypertension Research. In 1985, Dr. Garrett entered the private practice of nephrology and eventually became a managing partner in the second largest nephrology practice in the United States. While in private medical practice, Dr. Garrett was honored as a Washingtonian Top Doctor in 1991, 1993, and 1995. In 1996, Dr. Garrett became the Chief Medical Officer of Medifacts International. In March, 2007, Dr. Garrett purchased the assets of the Clinical Research Services Division of Medifacts International and founded Global Research Services.
Dr. Garrett has published a number of articles relating to hypertension, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, nephrology and clinical research.
Dr. Sandra Garrett is the Executive Chairman of Global Research Services. Dr. Garrett was the founder of Medifacts International and served as its President and CEO from 1985 to 2006. Dr. Garrett also served as the co principal investigator with Raymond Lipicky, MD (retired), a past director of the Division of Cardio-Renal Drug Products of the US FDA, under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA).
Dr. Garrett served on the Board of the Association of Clinical Research Organizations (ACRO). ACRO advances clinical outsourcing to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of biomedical research. In addition, she was a 2005 finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the area of Life Sciences and 2008 honoree by Women in Bio (WIB) for notable women entrepreneurs in life sciences.
Dr. Garrett holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas. She is the author of multiple publications related to the use of blood pressure monitoring in clinical trials.
Julie Garrett is Sr. Vice President Finance and Administration for Global Research Services. She is responsible for all global corporate administrative functions including contracts, legal issues and compliance, lease negotiations and space allocation, risk management and insurance programs, and Finance and Accounting. As a member of the Executive Management Committee, Ms. Garrett provides input into corporate strategic planning and resource issues. Ms. Garrett also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Global Research Services and as its corporate secretary.
Assisting in the development of Global Research Services, Ms. Garrett joined the corporation in March, 2007. From 1990-2007 she held the position of Sr. Vice President for Corporate Services at Medifacts International, Inc. Prior to joining Medifacts, she was the Associate Provost for Administrative Affairs at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia from 1983 to 1990 where she was the administrative representative to the university development team. Ms. Garrett held the position of Administrator of the Thrombosis Research Center at Temple University School of Medicine from 1978 to 1983.
Ms. Garrett holds a B.A. in Speech Pathology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
